Religious Education (RE)

Article 14 – Every child has the right to think and believe what they want and to practise their religion, as long as they are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights. Governments must respect the rights of parents to give their children information about this right.
Article 30 – Every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family, regardless of whether these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live.

We are committed here at Poplar Farm to preparing our children to become citizens of a diverse, modern world.

Learning about how people around our community, country and the world worship and celebrate is not only important but is also interesting, engaging and enjoyable.

Learning about faith and cultural diversity forms a real cornerstone of our curriculum intent.

RE is taught at Poplar Farm following our bespoke curriculum.

Hear from a current pupil…

All maintained schools in England must provide Religious Education (RE) for all registered pupils, including those in the sixth form and reception classes, unless withdrawn by their parents. This requirement does not apply to children below compulsory school age in nursery schools or classes.

RE should be provided for all registered pupils except for those withdrawn at the request of parents/carers.
